Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Charles Booker continues to beef up his campaign staff with the addition of a Kentuckian as his communications director.
Booker has named Meredith Scalos, who has previously served on other Kentucky statewide Democratic campaigns.
Scalos most recently served as a regional communications coordinator for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). She previously served as a campaign spokesperson for Greg Stumbo’s 2019 campaign for Attorney General. Scalos also spent time working as an adviser in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
“I’m excited for the challenge, fired up and ready to join this team of incredible individuals committed to making life better for all Kentuckians, no matter what,” Scalos posted on her Facebook account. “As Governor Happy Chandler used to say, ‘I never met a Kentuckian who wasn’t either thinking about going home or actually going home,’ and this Kentuckian is coming home.”
Booker will have to clear a Democratic primary in May of 2022 to take on incumbent U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky.
