Kentucky State Police remain on the scene of Rep. Wesley Morgan’s Richmond, Kentucky, home, where an early Tuesday morning invasion took the life of his daughter, a lawyer and former Kentucky political staffer.
A spokesperson for the state police says the investigation is ongoing as they continue to search for clues into what led to the death of Jordan Morgan, 32, who previously served under the Bevin administration.
Between 3:30 to 4:30 am on Tuesday morning, KSP says an armed intruder entered the residence of former Rep. Morgan on Willis Branch Road. Once inside shots were fired between “the homeowner and the home intruder,” state police say. “The homeowner was injured, taken to the hospital, treated, and released.”
KSP says the suspect who broke into the home “fired shots” inside the home, which led to Wesley Morgan awakening and returning fire. There is currently no motive in the case.
Kentucky State Police are trying to find and locate a suspect in this case. Investigators are working their way through the home and property in search of potential evidence.
As investigators search they are holding some information close to their chest as they are trying to put the whole puzzle together. KSP say they will be there “as long as it takes” to get answers.
If anyone has information they are being asked to contact the Kentucky State Police.
