With his second ad of the Kentucky Republican primary for governor, Attorney General Daniel Cameron is leaning into the Breonna Taylor controversy with an ad calling himself the law enforcement candidate.
The ad, which will run on broadcast, digital, and cable platforms, backed with a six-figure buy, shows protestors at Cameron’s home in July of 2020. Eighty-seven with the social justice group Until Freedom were arrested outside of his home for trespassing on his property at his request, according to media reports at the time. Felony charges were later dropped by the Jefferson Co. Attorney.
In the ad, Cameron touts the support of over 100 Kentucky law enforcement officers.
“Kentucky law enforcement knows I have their back, and they have mine,” he says in the ad.
“Despite facing intimidation and threats against his family from hundreds of protestors on his front lawn, Daniel never wavered,” said campaign manager Gus Herbert. “Daniel Cameron is THE choice of law enforcement because he’s tough, he’ll do what he says, and unlike Andy Beshear he won’t abandon our cops for political gain.”
Cameron is currently narrowly leading in public polling in the primary race. Kentuckians head to the polls on May 16.
