With one week to go candidates vying for the Republican nomination for governor canvass the state in the final days of the primary election.
Attorney General Daniel Cameron is wrapping up his race with an eight-county swing through Shelby, Oldham, Barren, Franklin, Hardin, Warren, Kenton, and Fayette counties beginning on Wednesday. Cameron dubbed his campaign stops the “fight for the commonwealth tour.”
Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles started his “Big Red Truck tour” on Monday, saying he’s “been everywhere,” and not slowing down in the final week. On Monday, he appeared in Louisville and finished his day at a debate with Transylvania University attended by just three of the candidates in the race.
Somerset Mayor Alan Keck is planning a final “24-hour blitz” on Monday, May 15, focusing on the eastern portion of the state. Keck’s campaign says he will visit with residents in his hometown before heading east to visit communities like London, Manchester, Jackson, and Paintsville. Before traveling to Morehead for a campaign stop before trekking west to Bardstown and on to Kentucky’s largest cities of Louisville and Lexington to round out the overnight hours — “making a tour of 24-hour restaurants in both cities to spread the word about his campaign and encourage people to vote on Tuesday, May 16.”
Keck plans on arriving back in Somerset by 6:30 am on Election Day, where he will cast his ballot at his local precinct.
Former ambassador Kelly Craft previously announced she would close out her primary race campaigning alongside Ted Cruz, the weekend before the election.
