The Fayette Co. Democratic Party has named their candidate to replace the late Rep. Lamin Swann, D-Lexington.
Public school employee, Adrielle Camuel was nominated by Fayette County Democrats on Thursday evening to run in the 93rd House District Special Election in Lexington. Camuel won the intra-party nominating decision against Emma Curtis, a trans activist.
“I’d like to thank the members of the Fayette County Democratic Party and the nominating committee for the honor of being chosen to represent our party in the special election for the 93rd District,” Camuel said on Twitter.
Former Rep. Swann died in May after a medical emergency. He was in his first term in the lower chamber.
Gov. Andy Beshear called the special election to coincide with the Nov. 7 election.
