Time is winding down for Republican gubernatorial nominee Daniel Cameron to name his running mate, and he may have tipped his hand on Independence Day.
Cameron campaigned in Campbellsville, Kentucky, in Taylor County, with a rumored pick for his running mate – House Speaker Pro Tem David Meade.
Meade, R-Stanford, represents Garrard, Lincoln, and part of Pulaski County. Some Republican insiders say Meade’s connection to the General Assembly may be of interest to Cameron on the campaign trail.
Also campaigning with Cameron was former rival Sen. Max Wise, R-Campbellsville, and Rep. Sarge Pollock, representing the district where the parade was held. Wise was Ambassador Kelly Craft’s running mate during the Republican primary for governor.
Cameron has until the second Tuesday in August to name his Lt. Governor pick.
