A day after posting dismal fundraising numbers Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Charles Booker is seeking to calm his base and ask for donations.
The former state Representative pleaded on Twitter with a personal note, telling his supporters he understands their cynicism.
“Hear me out. I get the cynicism, but we truly can beat Rand Paul,” Booker wrote on Tuesday. “The path is clear. Our statewide coalition is historic. People from the Hood to the Holler are standing up with me.”
“We have the vision, we just need the funds to carry it out.”
The post comes as Booker’s latest fundraising report was released, showing the candidate raising about $651,000 in the 4th quarter of 2021, and ending the year with just $411,000 in the bank. Meanwhile, Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is heading into the election year after raising nearly $4 million, with $8 million banked so far for the race.
Booker recently announced the Kentucky New Deal tour this month which includes “drive-in” style rallies as part of the tour through Frankfort, Erlanger, Morehead, Paducah, and Franklin County.
