Secretary of State Michael Adams has a Republican primary challenge.
Allen Maricle, who served in Frankfort as a state Representative from 1994 until 1998, has filed to raise money for the Secretary of State’s race with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.
“We have polling locations consolidated and shutdown. We have come to rely too much on technology when much technology is in question or potentially flawed,” Maricle said in a news release. “We must re-open all polling locations and we must ensure the process we use for our elections is without question secure and accurate.”
Secretary of State Mike Adams also filed his paperwork with the registry of election finance to raise funds for his re-election.
Adams responded on Twitter to Maricle’s plan to challenge him for the seat with a 1998 newspaper clipping.
The 59-year-old Maricle most recently filed to run for the 38th state Senate District but was not eligible for the seat after the redistricting process.
