Kelly Craft, the former United Nations Ambassador under Donald Trump, officially announced a governor run after a year of speculation.
Craft announced her candidacy for the position online with a video posted to her social media account.
The 2:40 introductory video shows Craft in workout gear in Barren County, where she grew up. Craft says she learned from her father that life is built on a promise – if you live by faith, work hard, did right by your neighbors, anything is possible.
“This campaign isn’t about me, it’s about all of us who still believe,” she said. “Believe we can lead in education – teaching kids how to think, not what to think. Believe that hard work matters and government shouldn’t get in the way of our success.”
Craft joins other high-profile Republicans in the race for the GOP nomination, including Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, Attorney General Daniel Cameron, Auditor Mike Harmon, and state Rep. Savannah Maddox.
