Updated: Gov. Andy Beshear has a polling advantage against Republican gubernatorial candidate Daniel Cameron, according to new polling.
Public Opinion Strategies released a poll this week taken on behalf of the Prichard Committee which shows the incumbent Democratic governor leading his Republican rival 52% to 42%, with cross-party appeal.
Robert Blizzard of Public Opinion Strategies completed a survey of 800 registered voters in
Kentucky with an oversample of 400 parents. The survey was conducted June 22-29, 2023, and has a margin of error of +/- 3.95% for the registered voters and a margin of error of
+/- 5.59% for the oversample.
The polling shows a high approval rating amongst Democrats and “relativity high” approval from Republicans.

Oddly, that was not the only poll to leak from that pollster this week. Austin Horn of the Lexington Herald-Leader reports a July poll commissioned for the national Republican State Leadership Committee of 500 voters showed a 4-point spread between the candidates – with Beshear leading 49% to Cameron’s 45%. That poll, conducted July 19-20, has a +/- 4.4% margin of error.
