Senate Republican lawmakers have canceled their annual retreat scheduled for this week in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in light of the severe weather that devastated the state.
Republicans in the supermajority were planning on convening to hear reports and plan the legislative agenda for the session starting Jan. 4.
“After discussion with fellow members of Senate Leadership, we all agree the best course of action is to allow our state to focus on the recovery process from this terrible event,” said Sen. Mike Wilson, R-Bowling Green. “We want members of our caucus, especially those of us in the Western Kentucky region, able to help with recovery efforts and rebuild our communities during this difficult time.”
Lawmakers are still planning on determining legislative priorities as a caucus in a shorter format later this month.
