Kentucky transplant J. Todd Inman is stepping down from his position within the DeSantis administration to follow his wife.
Inman has submitted his resignation with the Florida Department of Management Services to live In the same city as his wife, Ann, who has a top executive position with a global company in Washington, D.C.
The 51-yea old, who served Elaine Chao as the Chief of Staff at the U.S. Dept. of Transportation in the Trump administration, is leaving Florida government for a position as the Senior Director of APCO Worldwide, a global public affairs company.
Inman told one news outlet he has to honor a promise to his wife, that no job could come between them.
His position in Florida is described as the business arm of the state government. In the role, Inman led nearly 1,000 employees and oversaw a $910 million budget that manages over $25 billion in contracts, disbursements, and procurements annually, according to the DMS website. Management Services comprises three primary areas of service: business, workforce, and technology. The business office is responsible for managing the business operations of the Florida state government and is responsible for crucial construction projects throughout the sunshine state. The workforce office is responsible for managing primary components of the state personnel system.
